Why Solo Travel Is Beautiful — And Why Group Adventures Can Be Even Better
The Freedom of Riding Solo
There’s something deeply transformative about setting off alone on two wheels. Solo motorcycle travel gives you complete freedom. You wake up when you want, stop where you feel like it, eat when you’re hungry, and ride until your body tells you to rest. You’re not negotiating plans, you’re flowing with the road.
For many of us, solo trips become a form of meditation — a raw reconnection with our own rhythm.
Why it’s magical:
- You follow your own pace, mood, and instincts
- You grow in self-confidence and independence
- You experience deep presence and awareness
- Every choice, every mistake, every victory is truly yours
In the past years, I’ve spent months exploring Europe, the Balkans, and Southeast Asia on my motorcycle. From the Dolomites to Mae Hong Son, each turn taught me something about myself and the world around me.
The Flip Side of Solo Travel
Let’s be honest: solo travel isn’t always sunsets and smooth rides. Sometimes it gets messy.
What can go wrong:
- Loneliness, especially in remote areas
- Mechanical issues with no one around to help
- Navigating unfamiliar local roads, rules, and languages
- Struggling to find safe or comfortable accommodation
- Feeling vulnerable when things don’t go according to plan
Even in safe regions like Italy, it’s easy to feel lost or overwhelmed when you’re in a new culture or terrain — especially if you’re still new to riding.
Sure, you can find women to ride with through Facebook groups, motorcycle communities, or forums. But if you’re thinking about going somewhere far, like Southeast Asia, the reality hits a bit differently. Roads are different. Traffic culture is different. Communication is different. And even with a small group of friends, things can get complicated without local knowledge.
The Joy of Group Riding (Done Right)
When you ride with the right people, it becomes a shared rhythm. You face challenges together. You celebrate the wins together. And you never have to eat dinner alone after a long day in the saddle.
What makes group travel amazing:
- Built-in support and shared responsibility
- Motivation when you’re tired or unsure
- New friendships and different perspectives
- Moments of connection you can’t get alone
But here’s the thing: not all group trips are created equal. The wrong group can be stressful, loud, or completely mismatched with your riding style.
That’s why I started creating women-only motorcycle trips in Northern Thailand — for those who want a deeper experience. Not just ticking off stops, but truly feeling the road together. These are not mass tours. They’re small, curated adventures where safety, atmosphere, and mutual respect matter.
You don’t have to be the loudest. You don’t have to be the fastest. You just have to show up as yourself.
Why Ride with Me?
- I know the roads and how to avoid the chaos
- I understand the culture, traffic, and hidden gems
- I help remove the pressure of planning and navigating
- I offer a space where women feel safe, supported, and seen
It’s not about control. It’s about freedom with guidance.
So if you don’t have a travel buddy, or just want to experience something more… real, know that you don’t have to do it alone. And if you’re heading somewhere like Thailand — a place that’s both magical and chaotic — it helps to have someone who’s been there, knows the land, and truly gets it.
If you’re craving freedom and sisterhood, challenge and support, adventure and safety…
…maybe it’s time to ride together.
